Finding out how to make a kaleidoscope is a splendid project that is easy, simple and fun to learn. About everyone has peered into these seemingly magical scopes with a magnificent array of designs and colors. What a delightful way to spend time alone or with someone else, choosing colors, shapes and gathering other materials, then creating a multitude of unique, mysterious shapes in a tube.
First off, all materials needed can be collected and put into a box or tub or laid out on a table where one can work with crafts. This will bring organization while making stuff that requires an area in which to mess up. Ice cream pails with lids and handles make great storage containers and permanent markers label them well.
So, what will be needed when making this cool item is some sort of tube shaped container, such as a potato chip can. Make sure it is sturdy when the ends are cut off. A paper towel roll can work also if that is all there is available. A plastic mirror is needed next, and a knife used for crafts, glue, some plastic to wrap with, a thin card, foam padding, Gaffer tape, colorful paper for gift wrapping and colorful beads, sequins and such.
In addition, an adult must assist for cutting with the knife in this part of the process with how to make a kaleidoscope. Cut the end off of the can or cardboard roll, likewise doing the other end. A craft knife works best, but utility knives can be just as efficient.
After that, going the full length of the cylinder, cut out 3 rectangular shaped mirror pieces. Make a triangle with the mirror pieces, taping them into shape. This is not until getting the best fit with shape and size, of course. Slide this triangle mirror down into the tube. Take some foam padding and stuff it around the triangle.
Take the roll, place it upright on top of the card, then trace and cut it out. Put a small hole in the center, and tape the circle over the end of the can, sealing it well. This is the end that one can look into when it is finished. Take the card again, and make a strip that is 1 inch wide. Make sure it is the same size at the end of the tube. Make 2 plastic circles the same size. Glue one to the tube ring, making a bowl shape.
Now, add confetti, sequins, tiny pins, fried marbles, beads, glitter and so on. These items will move about so make sure that they’re not too cramped to do so. The closing of the tube comes next with gluing the other circle onto the only end open. Let the glue dry for at least a few hours. Speed up the process by using a fan to sit in front of it. When dry, take wallpaper, wrapping paper, paint or whatever is chosen, and cover it. Decorate and enjoy!
